New Wave Exhibition Open Call
Exhibition opening night Thursday 6 July
What will the new wave bring? How will it shape our world? And how will it manifest in the realm of art?
As we navigate the currents of change, we contemplate the future and wonder how this new wave in art will shape and define us when we look back upon this era.
Like powerful forces of nature, waves propel us forward while simultaneously drawing us back. They embody both progress and reflection. It is at this juncture that we find ourselves, caught between the tides of change and the echoes of the past. This new wave emerges amidst the backdrop of a world grappling with the implications of irreversible change. Climate change looms large, presenting us with a pressing urgency to redefine our relationship with nature. The consequences of our actions now reverberate through time, leaving an indelible mark on future generations. As we face the urgent realities of climate change and environmental degradation, sustainability becomes a crucial aspect of this new wave. How can artistic expression inspire a more harmonious relationship between humanity and the natural world? How might the New Wave be a catalyst for ecological consciousness and responsible stewardship of our planet?
Moreover, we are currently living in the era of Saturn in Pisces—an astrological juxtaposition of opposing energies. Saturn, the archetype of structure and boundaries, encounters Pisces, an oceanic sign that resists limitations and craves fluidity, constantly changing its mind. The tension between order and chaos, stability and upheaval, creates a unique backdrop for artistic exploration. How will artists navigate this duality? What visions will arise from this clash of energies?
In this era of unprecedented technological advancement, we witness the integration of artificial intelligence into the realm of art. The possibilities seem boundless, opening new horizons for creativity and expression. How will artists harness these tools? How will they push the boundaries of artistic creation and redefine the human-AI relationship?
In this open call, we invite artists to interpret and respond to the theme of the New Wave in their own unique way. Whether you explore the delicate balance between structure and fluidity, the ecological impact of our choices, the consequences of irreversible change, or the profound influence of new technologies such as AI in art—your perspective is invaluable. We encourage you to delve into the depths of your creativity, igniting conversations, challenging assumptions, and ushering in an era of change and transformation through your work.
Let us ride this New Wave together, embracing change, transformation, and sustainability to pursue a brighter, more resilient future.
